However, sometimes you may want to take your bike off-road and onto the sand, which can be incredibly fun. Unfortunately, riding on sand can be a bit more difficult than the average paved road, but it is nowhere near as challenging as some people say it is. - The first thing to keep in mind is that being able to properly balance is very important, especially on sand. If any aspect of your bike is out of balance, you will have a tough time staying up on your bike. Try to stay centered on the bike and use your weight to react to changes in the terrain. In fact, you will want to be standing up slightly on the bike rather than completely sitting down.
- Figuring out how to not get stuck in the sand is also critical. It can be easy for the rear tire to dig down in the sand, which will stop you from moving very quickly. As long as you drop the clutch as soon as you start moving and remember to reduce the throttle, you shouldn’t have any problems. However, if you do notice your read tire beginning to dig, you should stop immediately so it doesn’t get completely stuck in the sand.
- Finally, make sure you have the right tires before going out on sand. You aren’t going to want the typical round road tires that you are used to riding with. Instead, take advantage of a pair of tires that have an open block pattern.
